This EP was written in 2 days as an exercise in songwriting. As Drawings was a new project at the time, I wanted to try and challenge the way I write songs to create something new and thought writing lots of songs over a short period of time might be fun!
I had also recently been going through a period of reading a lot about religious iconography/dogma and decided I wanted to try and write a 'concept' record about each of the 7 'deadly sins'.
In June 2009, I wrote 4 songs in one day, then wrote the remaining 3 the next day. Not thinking too hard about the decisions I was making and just using a 'train of thought' style of writing, going with whatever I felt like at the time and not judging it.
As Drawings had not settled on tracks for our first proper release, I played these songs to the band and we decided to set about recording them; two weeks later we had our first EP 'The Seven Deadly Sins'.
